Can states enact transportation policy that limits sprawl and protects open space and habitats? Hear how a bipartisan group of legislators created a package that addresses rural, urban and suburban transportation needs in an environmentally friendly manner.

Reception at Colman Dock until 8:30; the Tillikum Ferry will depart at 8:30 for a tour of Puget Sound and return by 10:00 p.m.

Political Inequality: Voting Reforms for the 21st Century
Demos: A Network for Ideas
4:00 - 5:30 p.m., Washington State Convention Center
The 2004 elections highlighted both the successes and failures of state and federal policies to protect voting rights. This workshop focuses on policies that ensure access, including Election Day Registration, voting rights for people with felony convictions, states' compliance with the Help America Vote Act (HAVA) and the National Voting Rights Act (NVRA).

The Truth about TABOR and How to Beat It

The advent of TABOR legislation throughout the country is a serious problem that threatens to undermine the stability of state governments. Come hear about messaging and organizational strategies for halting TABOR proposals in state legislatures and learn about the failure of TABOR bills in several states during the 2005 session and what the future holds.
